This morning I posted this on my Twitter and Facebook accounts:
Immediately people started answering. And the answers varied greatly. From seven to all 50. Some even included foreign countries.
I have always loved traveling. I think it came from when I was young and it seemed as though we were always in the car. My youngest brother spent the first couple of years of his life in and out of hospitals and they were never close — always at least an hour away.
But every time we got in the car it was an adventure. We played all sorts of games — the alphabet game, the license plate game, even travel size board games. The trips passed quickly.
But it wasn’t just trips to the hospital. It wasn’t out of the ordinary for my family to get in the car to drive three hours for lunch. And because we were on the east coast and most of my relatives were on the west coast, we often were on an airplane.
My love of travel has continued into my adult life. Whenever I smell jet fuel it conjures up thoughts of travel and adventure.
When I was living in London in college I got to as many other countries as my bank account would allow. And there are so many more that I missed that I hope to get to some day.
Before I asked that question, I honestly had no idea how many states were on my list. And I only think it’s proper that I figure it out. So here it goes:
ME, NH, VT, MA, CT, RI, NY, NJ, DE, MD, VA, (DC — yes, I know not a state), IN, IL, OH, PA, GA, KS, MO, NE, TX, CO, NV, UT, AZ, NM, CA, and St. John USVI (yes, again, I know it’s not a state)
So I’m halfway there. Guess I need to start buying some more plane or train tickets!

I travel to Japan for business from time to time and enjoy producing a video’s of the trip. It is a way to socially share my adventures with friends and family.
Background, I am a independent video produced and spend a lot of time at a local public access TV station. I created a show called Go The Distance TV where I like to highlight ordinary people doing extraordinary things. What better way for “Go The Distance TV” to spotlight people and places I visited half a world away. It’s so much fun.

Ahhh…I’m dying to go to London, New Zealand, Scandinavia, Russia…
Growing up, we were much like you, on the road, looking for the next adventure. As a airline family, we were fortunate to be able to travel extensively (and cheaply). Mom worked for Flying Tigers (now owned by FedEx) and Dad worked for Alaska Airlines.
After moving 17 times, visiting over 1680 cities and towns in 117 countries on 6 continents – it never gets old. I’m still looking for that trip to Antarctica though.
My favorites are Siena, Haifa and Rarotonga. I love walking the streets of Florence at night or waking up as the sun rises on Maui. I love the zoo in Seattle and the Bourke Street Mall at Christmas.
The beaches of Bermuda are perfection and the drive along Chapman’s Peak is breathtaking.
My favorites are pretty much anywhere that ends with a vowel. How’s that for scientific exploration – Vanna White would be proud!!!
It’s easier for me to list where I have not been than where I have. I’ve not been to NY, Idaho, ND or SD, Montana, Utah, Arizona, Alaska or Hawaii. I knocked off Nevada this year with the SPJ convention. I have only been to the Detroit airport in Michigan – not sure that counts. The older I get, the harder it is to knock a new state off the list as I’m getting down now to isolated states.
I love travel, and have been to many of the states, and a few foreign countries. I get the travel bug all the time, so it’s tough not to hop in the car & go somewhere at all times.
I always have the travel bug! I could be a nomad. So where are we going?

Wow! More than I thought. I guess as far as states go, I really want to see Alaska. And I’d like to go back to some of the other states I’ve already been to to see them in some more depth and see them again through my kids eyes.

the military for most of my travels..
